Race Report for Qualifying Two
Seale on sprint race pole, Tilley alongside in season’s best qualifying result
John Seale continued his run of great form this morning, setting the fastest time in Sunday morning’s GT Cup qualifying session.
Patchy sunshine and a drying track greeted the drivers as the green flag dropped. Seale quickly climbed to the top of the timing screens where he’d stay for the duration of the session. A 2:02.166 from the Huracan put Seale comfortably ahead of his rivals. Lining up alongside him on the grid will be Grahame Tilley in his Nissan GT-R, his best qualifying result of the season so far. Shamus Jennings’ G-Cat Porsche set the third fastest time in GTO.
Group GTC entrants begin to appear on the second row of the grid, with Tom Webb qualifying in third thanks to a 2:05.834. Dan de Zille set the pace early in the session, but lost out by less than a tenth to Webb. His FF Corse Ferrari lines up fourth on the grid.
In group GTB, it was Sander Mortensen claiming the fastest time. A 2:11.906 from the Top Cats driver sees him ahead of the #17 WDC Racing McLaren. David Frankland and James Simons start third and fourth in the group.
Team Hard look to be changing their fortunes with a pole position from Josh Jackson in the #21 Ginetta. Jackson squeezed ahead of Balfe Motorsports’ Nick Moss, ending up just a few hundredths quicker. Steve Ruston will start the race third in the group, ahead of early pace setter Brendan Iribe.
A second group pole position for Team Hard as Kris Prosser in the sister Ginetta set the fastest time in GTA. He starts ahead of his lone group rival Ivan Milutinovic.
