Race Report for Round Fifteen- Sprint Race

Success for Seale and Sander, JMH Automotive and Top Cats Racing claim group wins in shortened sprint race

After a slightly shortened sprint race, John Seale emerges victorious at Silverstone. The Lamborghini driver beat rivals Grahame Tilley and Shamus Jennings to the top step of the podium.

Contact on lap one caused chaos in the field as drivers tried to avoid a misplaced Dan de Zille and Shamus Jennings. As a result, three Ferraris found themselves off of the circuit and brought out the red flag.

With the track cleared and race length reduced by five minutes, the green flag dropped and John Seale defended his lead to the chequered. Grahame Tilley had a race largely on his own. Finishing second, he had a comfortable buffer between him and the raging battle between Jennings and Bob Berridge behind. Following some incredibly close racing, Jennings’ Porsche eventually won out over the fearsome Volvo.

With over half of the GTC field removed in the first lap incident, Tom Webb had very little competition from his own group. Having started third on the grid, Webb lost out to Jennings and Berridge on the restart but kept ahold of fifth overall. Group victory went to Webb, but Laki Christoforou was slowly closing the gap throughout. The Ferrari man took second in group.

Another good day at the office for Top Cats Racing as Sander Mortensen finished seventh overall and claimed the GTB group win. Mortensen led the group throughout, and even toppled Nigel Mustill’s group GTO Nissan on the last lap to claim seventh position. Rob Young in the purple and yellow McLaren 570 finished second, with David Frankland in third.

Two McLarens and a Ginetta make up the top three in group GTH. Nick Moss picked up his second sprint race win of the weekend, finishing ahead of Balfe Motorsport teammate Brendan Iribe. Josh Jackson in the #21 Team Hard Ginetta finished a few seconds behind in third.

More success for Team Hard in GTA, as Callum Jenkins took the chequered flag in the #79 Ginetta. Finishing just behind the sister car in the overall order, Jenkins drove a great race to finish ahead of Ivan Milutinovic.
