Race Report for Round Sixteen- Pit-Stop Race

Shamus Jennings emerges victorious after intense last lap battle with Tom Webb

Shamus Jennings won an interrupted pit-stop race at Silverstone, after fending off a charging Tom Webb. The Mortensens completed a clean sweep for Top Cats Racing in GTB, Nick Moss claims GTH honours and Team Hard collected the GTA group win.

Despite large, looming clouds, Silverstone remained dry for the final race of the weekend (in stark contrast to last year’s visit). John Seale began the race on pole, alongside Shamus Jennings. It was a good start by Seale, keeping ahold of the lead, while Jennings was kept in check by Grahame Tilley.

The field settled into a groove, swapping fastest times, and the occasional position. As soon as the pit window opened, Craig Dolby was unleashed from the pitlane - the #23 Nissan was only permitted to complete the second part of the race as Nigel Mustill was taken ill.

Cars began to filter into the pitlane, but not far into the pit window, the safety car was called for a stricken Grahame Tilley. By the time the dust settled and the race resumed, just Jennings and Tom Webb were left on the lead lap. It was a close battle, down to the last lap, but a mistake from Tom Webb guaranteed Jennings the victory.

Behind Webb, the #55 Lamborghini of John Seale and Marcus Clutton (stepping in for Jamie Stanley) finished third, over 27 seconds back, despite Clutton’s best efforts.

Webb may not have come away with the overall win, but still nabbed the GTC group win. Having started at the back of the grid, Gary Redman and Fulvio Mussi flew up the order to take fourth overall, and second in group. Laki Christoforou and Adam Carroll took third in GTC despite a drive through penalty for a short pit stop.

Balfe Motorsport took another GTH group win thanks to a great race from Nick Moss. The #25 McLaren finished ahead of teammate Brendan Iribe, and the #44 McLaren of Steve Ruston and John Whitehouse.

The Marcos Mantis in the hands of Sander and Frank Mortensen punched well above its weight today, running as high as third overall. It should come as no surprise then that the Top Cats Racing car took the GTB group win.

Team Hard will be taking home more silverware thanks to a win from Nick Scott-Dickeson and Callum Jenkins. The GTA entered Ginetta ran well, finishing ahead of Ivan Milutinovic in the GTA Motorsport Porsche Cayman.
