Race Report for Round Thirteen- Sprint Race
Charging Chamberlain takes Saturday’s sprint race win
Another trophy for Richard Chamberlain as he narrowly beat John Seale to the chequered flag in Saturday’s sprint race. Seale had a great start in the Lamborghini, snatching the lead from Chamberlain on the opening lap. But it wasn’t to be for the green Huracan as not long after, Chamberlain charged back through and kept a tight grip on the lead. Chamberlain also walks away from this race with the fastest lap point.
Grahame Tilley rounds off the overall and GTO podiums, after a strong-looking Seamus Jennings fell down the order in the latter part of the race. Bob Berridge put in a great performance in the first half of the race, but an incident saw the unique Volvo grind to a halt.
In GTC, Dan de Zille in the #19 Ferrari came out on top. In the all-Italian battle, polesitter James Webb had to settle for second in his Lamborghini, with Paul Hogarth’s Ferrari 488 sitting in third.
It was a twelfth overall finish for GTB group winner Sander Mortensen, an impressive result for the Marcos Mantis. Finishing second in group was Matt le Breton in the #17 WDC Racing McLaren, with the newly repaired Porsche of David Frankland in third. Frankland didn’t manage to make qualifying, due to a mechanical problem, but 24-7 Motorsport sourced a part and the Porsche made a good recovery having started from the back of the grid.
Balfe Motorsport followed on from their GTH pole position with a win for Nick Moss in the #25 McLaren. Moss led from the start, keeping fellow Balfe Motorsport runner Brendan Iribe at bay in second. It was another McLaren completing the top three, with John Whitehouse in the #44 JMH Automotive prepared 570 GT4.
After their pole position earlier in the morning, GTA Motorsport continued their fine form with a win from Ivan Milutinovic. Nick Scott-Dickeson in the #79 Team Hard Ginetta fought well, but had to settle for second.
