Race Report for Qualifying Two

Dominant de Zille knocks GTO rivals out of pole position fight

In stark contrast to yesterday, Snetterton was graced with glorious sunshine for qualifying. Dan de Zille set the pace early in the session, wrestling a 1:53.562 from his Ferrari on a very greasy track. Michael Igoe looked less comfortable than his dominant performance on Saturday, setting a time several seconds off de Zille’s pace.

As the session went on, times started to fall, but nobody could join de Zille in the 1:53s. Grahame Tilley jumped into second (and group GTO pole) with a 1:55.267, just two tenths clear of Igoe by the end of the session. Group GTC’s James Webb will line up alongside group GTO runner Shamus Jennings in fourth and fifth.

Sixth and seventh will be a pair of GTH runners - Fox Motorsports’ Mark Murfitt and Team Hard’s Josh Jackson. Optimum Motorsports’ worked through the night to repair their Aston Martin Vantage after Saturday’s incident, and David Holloway ended up third quickest in GTH.

The fastest GTA runner was the #79 Team Hard car in the hands of Sam Randon. A 2:01.695 was enough to put the former A1GP driver eighth on the grid, well ahead of PT Sports Car’s David Bearman and Stanbridge Motorsports’ James Simons. Saxon Motorsport claimed pole position in GTB with a 2:01.804 from Tom Barrow. The BMW 150 GTR starts well clear of Jonathan Wright and Jensen Lunn who line up in 13th and 14th overall.
