Douze Points For Team BRIT Who Do Double On Day Two At Snetterton
Team BRIT notched up their second outright win of the 2026 GT Cup Championship campaign at Snetterton on Sunday (17 May), while there were several new winners across the groups following an intense brace of races.
Jamie Falvey was on venomous form across the second day of the weekend in Norfolk, clinching a Sprint success and completing a double alongside Paul Fullick in the Team BRIT BMW M4.
Qualifying
After PB Racing by JMH were the stars of Saturday's action, on Sunday it was the turn of their GT3 Group rivals, Team BRIT, to showcase what Jamie Falvey and Paul Fullick had in their locker with the new BMW M4 GT3.
The morning's Qualifying session allowed them to flex their muscles, and Falvey scorched his way to pole position with a time of 1:47.540s.
Closest to the BMW star were a brace of GTC Group Lamborghini Huracan Super Trofeo entries. Yesterday's overall Pitstop winners, Triple M Motorsport, came out on top of that particular battle for the top spot, albeit with newcomer Felix Livesey just shy of challenging the overall pole that went the way of Falvey's more potent GT3. Behind them was Jack Gadd, who kept in close proximity for DWG Motorsports with Topcats Racing in his similar Lamborghini.
While AF Corse UK's Sean Ran continued an exceptional performance in GTO, it would again be another BMW that took pole in GTA thanks to SVG Motorsport.
The real dice was a four-way Ginetta squabble for GTH spoils. That once again went in favour of the mightily rapid teenager Charlie Benson, who gave 24-7 Motorsport a second pole of the weekend after holding off the attentions of Cameron Pratt-Thompson (SVG Motorsport) and Sam Branston of Innovation Racing to set up a thrilling contest between them in the afternoon.
Pitstop Race
Brimming with newfound optimism at the head of the grid for the 50-minute Pitstop Race later that afternoon, Falvey showed his determination by setting off into a commanding lead at the front of the field when the lights went out to kick off the action.
That lead steadily climbed during the stint as the GT3 car stretched its legs to move 10 seconds ahead of Livesey - impressing in second place with the GTC Lamborghini - by the time the mandatory pit window opened before a flurry of pitlane activity.
Paul Fullick entered the driver's seat of the lead #68 BMW, and did exactly what was required to bring the car home to the chequered flag for the team's second outright and GT3 Group victory of the season by a gap of 15 seconds.
The lead fight in GTC was intriguing up until the flag meanwhile. It was eventually won by Gadd in the DWG Motorsports with Topcats Lamborghini, but only after twice passing the similar #4 machine of Charlie Digby - now in place of Livesey - which itself dropped back with a fuel pump issue that slowed its progress. Sneaking through to second in GTC as a consequence were FHM by JMH drivers Frank Morris and James Pickford, continuing the strong form of the #63 Lamborghini.
GTH was tipped for excitement, and it certainly delivered during a too-and-fro 50 minutes of action. Four Ginettas and Jolt Racing's McLaren Artura went into battle in a fast-paced opening stint, which was headed by group pole-sitter Benson in the 24-7 Motorsport car as he worked through traffic to keep the chasing Pratt-Thompson, Branston and Rob Garofall all at bay.
He did just that, handing over the lead car to Ben Taylor as they attempted to grab victory. However, it was Branston who was not going to be denied, pulling off a double stint in which he caught and passed Taylor's similar Ginetta G56 to give Innovation Racing GTH success. Second went to Taylor and Benson, while a penalty for the #65 Triple M Motorsport crew dropped them off the podium behind SVG Motorsport's Pratt-Thompson and Alex Toth-Jones.
GTA was an entertaining fight also, which started well for SVG Motorsport's #24 BMW M4 pairing of Neil Wallace and Ian Astley as they swept by the Innovation Racing Ginetta G55 of Kyle Wells and Bryn Calder heading down the Bentley Straight early on. The latter would claw back time in the second stage of the race, and ultimately took the victory in GTA - their first of the campaign.
Sprint Race
The final 25-minute event of the weekend started in dramatic fashion, as a safety car for a Riches incident slowed the pace for several laps. Falvey it was who took control of the BMW up front and proceeded to scamper away to confirm a double win on the day for the Team BRIT squad.
Seven seconds behind him was the GTC winner, Livesey, taking his first solo GT Cup victory for the Triple M Motorsport crew in his Lamborghini despite the charging Bertie Bream being in hot pursuit for Innovation Racing.
GTO was this time a win for Paul Bailey in the SB Race Engineering Mercedes-AMG GT3, which he shared earlier with David Brabham. GTA was a tight contest, won by Calder in the Innovation Racing Ginetta ahead of SVG Motorsport, who narrowly pipped a fighting Daniel Perry to second place at the death following two stunning around-the-outside passes to get there.
GTH went the way of Harry Yuill in the Triple M Motorsport Ginetta, pulling clear of the similar G56 of Taylor (24-7 Motorsport) to top off a great weekend consisting of three wins from four for the car.
The GT Cup Championship returns to Donington Park over the weekend of 27/28 June for Round 3, featuring four races once again.
#25 Sam Branston
“No running on Friday, getting up to speed with my first few laps in Qualifying on Saturday, and managed to claw it back in the Pitstop Race - winning by 27 seconds. I had a good start, I made sure I was nice and safe, and then got settled into a rhythm and consistent pace which was more than enough. I’m over the moon. Absolutely love the Ginetta, I’m so lucky to be 16 and doing what I’m doing, I can’t even believe it!”
#68 Jamie Falvey
“We started the day on Friday and we didn’t really know where we were. We kept the same set-up on it from Donington and the BMW is quite traction limited just from the nature of what it is and dialled it from there and got confidence in it. The Engineering team have done that all for us and me and Paul just had to keep it between the lines and do what we’re told! The team has done a mega job, really happy. It’s been a surprise to us how quickly we’ve settled in! We’re doing the best we can, we’re learning, we had a lot of learning points over the weekend, and hopefully we can get stronger and maybe make a push for the big one!”
#247 Charlie Benson
"We've had a really good weekend I think. Obviously a few ups and downs along the way but we've come away with P2 in the pitstop race, so I think there's still a lot of pace in us to go and win races this season which is exciting. That will be the aim, and we've definitely shown that we can do that, so we'll look forward to Donington next!"
#17 Daniel Perry
“We ended up with some car troubles in the last race so my clutch was slipping. At first it was the idea of damage limitation and getting the car home and then I saw the cars ahead of me and figured I had to give it a go otherwise I would have regretted it. So I overtook the McLaren and then the BMW a few laps later at the same corner, I made it stick one time but unfortunately he’s faster in a straight line. I tried it again on the last corner on the last lap but he wise to it that time. But it was great racing, and it’s been a great debut weekend.”
