GT Cup Championship sets up second serving at Snetterton

The GT Cup Championship sprints - literally - back into action this weekend (16/17 May) for its second event of 2026, as the Snetterton 300 circuit plays host to the latest four races in Norfolk.

The season kicked off in style with two new outright race winners at Donington Park, Team BRIT victorious on their GT Cup debut before PB Racing with JMH Automotive’s Peter Erceg and Marcus Clutton scooped glory in the 100-minute showpiece event.

We return to the fabled four-race format in Norfolk, with a 25-minute Sprint and 50-minute Pit Stop contest for both days.

The GT3 fight is poised between the Team BRIT BMW M4 of Jamie Falvey and Paul Fullick, and the Audi R8 of their PB Racing rivals. The latter almost won outright here last year, and now want to continue their newfound taste for success.

GTO will be hotly-contested meanwhile. Paul Bailey and David Brabham have the early edge for SB Race Engineering (Mercedes-AMG), but have competition from Ferrari and Lotus this time around. 24-7 Motorsport enter Paul Whight and John Dickson in a Lotus Evora, whereas AF Corse make their return with Josh Steed and Sean Ran in a Ferrari 296 Challenge.

Competition in GTC was fierce at Donington, ending with a Lamborghini top three in the standings. Step forward Frank Morris and James Pickford for FHM Racing with JMH, sitting nine points clear of Triple M Motorsport who invite Felix Livesey to join Charlie Digby at Snetterton. Jack Gadd sits third for Topcats Racing. Variety is the spice of this group, Porsche represented by Team Parker’s Michael McInerney/Phil Keen and Doc Bush, plus Tim Docker’s Paddock Motorsport McLaren Artura and Innovation Racing’s Bertie Bream and Luke Bennett (Ginetta G56 Special).

Expect close scraps in GTH with the Sprint format now in play, as four Ginetta pairings look evenly matched on paper. Donington 100 winners SVG Motorsport (Marc Elman/Cameron Pratt-Thompson) battle with Innovation Racing’s Sam Branston and James Wareing, Triple M’s Harry Yuill and Rob Garofall, and 24-7 Motorsport’s Ben Taylor and Charlie Benson. Rivals include the flying Jolt Racing who impressed in Round 1, plus new entry GBR Stratton Motorsport with an Aston Martin for Richard Taffinder and Tim Eakin.

SVG Motorsport hold the early group GTA lead, but Neil Wallace and Ian Astley (BMW M4) will once again be looking in their mirrors for the ‘Pink Panther’ Ginetta of Daniel Quintero and Andrew Perry, which was victorious on its GT Cup debut weekend. Dennis Storey and Alan McCullogh (BMW M2) return after podiums at Donington, while two more Ginettas feature; one for Innovation Racing - Kyle Wells and karter Bryn Calder - and another for JTM Engineering Ltd, debuting with Daniel Perry.

Weekend action commences with the first Sprint and Pit Stop races on Saturday at 13:10 and 16:55 respectively, followed by the same format from 13:40 and 16:55 on Sunday. All races will be broadcast live and for free on the GT Cup YouTube channel.

Remember to get your tickets for the second GT Cup Championship event of the season at Snetterton this weekend, which can be purchased on the gates, or online here.
