Innovation Racing targets GT Cup title in 2026 with double Ginetta attack

Ahead of a second full season, Innovation Racing has set its sights on the GT Cup Championship title with two strong Ginetta pairings for 2026.

Simon Griffiths' team was a consistent threat across both the GTH and GTA Groups last term, challenging for the title in the former right until the very last round at Snetterton thanks to 10 Group GTH victories across the six events.

Griffiths hopes his team can build on that success in the new season, continuing a two-car effort with a brace of Ginetta G56 machines.

Car #8 will be headed up by an exciting young driver pairing, with Porsche Club GB Boxster Cup ace Bertie Bream graduating to GT racing with the Ginetta outfit. The rookie will be joined by an Esports world champion, Luke Bennett, who clinched GT Cup victories with Griffiths last year in what proved to be an impressive maiden venture into the reality of sportscar racing.

The team's second Ginetta will compete in Group GTH, with Sam Branston and James Wareing aboard the #258 entry. Wareing graduated from BMW 116 Trophy competition, while teenager Branston came fourth in Junior X30 in the Kartmasters Grand Prix.

Team owner Griffiths says: "We are delighted to welcome both Bertie and Luke into our team for 2026, alongside Sam and James who are all quick youngsters. Luke has already broken lap records with us in 2025, alongside race wins, so we are excited to see what he can do for us again. Bertie comes with proven race-winning pace, so we think it will be a formidable pairing for Innovation Racing."

Bennett added: "Super excited to be getting my first full season of racing underway this year. I'm looking forward to hopefully bringing some more trophies home and working with Bertie to make sure we’re on the top step as much as possible throughout the season."

Rookie Bream meanwhile remains equally excitied: "I’m delighted to have current Esports world champion Luke Bennett as my team mate for 2026. I’m very hopeful we can have great success, given that we have a team like Innovation Racing providing a car with a proven pace."

The new GT Cup Championship season gets underway at Donington Park on 11/12 April. Want to be a part of the grid? Contact the series via our website and register your entry today!
