JMH and Simon Green Motorsport share Silverstone successes
John Seale added to his Saturday Endurance Race win with a sublime Sprint Race success in his JMH Automotive-run Lamborghini Huracan, as Lucky Khera and Ross Wylie tasted victory in a weather-shortened Endurance Race.
Starting Sprint on pole, Seale quickly regained the place he lost to Khera at the start and powered off into the distance to secure Sprint victory in 'Kermit'.
He was denied a clean sweep of Sunday by Khera in the Simon Green Motorsport Ferrari 488 Challenge, who again made a better start to lead into Copse but this time held it until the end. There was added success for JMH in GTH, as John Whitehouse and Steve Ruston took victory in the Endurance Race. In the Sprint, Chris Murphy converted his first GTH pole in five years into a win for Whitebridge Motorsport.
Team HARD took double success in GTB, with Sam Randon and Ben Clayden also adding two overall podiums in their Porsche 911 GT3 Cup. The squad almost did the same in GTA, but Joshua Jackson and Simon Orange were denied a second win by Makehappenracing in the Sprint encounter.
Qualifying
A rocket lap from Seale confirmed JMH Automotive at the top of the times as the Lamborghini Huracan racer clocked a 2m03.595s to secure pole by almost three seconds. Lucky Khera qualified alongside on the front-row, in the GTC polesitting Simon Green Motorsport Ferrari 488 Challenge.
GTB went the way of Team HARD as Sam Randon qualified the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup on the second-row of the grid - beating Saturday's Group polesitter Jensen Lunn in a tightly fought contest. The squad doubled up on success with GTA pole for the Ginetta G55 pairing of Joshua Jackson and Simon Orange.
Chris Murphy took GTH pole for Whitebridge Motorsport, the Aston Martin outfit pipping Feathers Motorsport's James Guess by 0.106s.
Sprint Race
Seale converted pole to Sprint Race victory after a commanding performance in the Huracan. Initially losing a place at the start to the faster Ferrari of Khera, Seale used the greater cornering speed of his GT3 to retake the place.
Despite a safety car period to recover a car at Copse, Seale mastered the restart and proceeded to extend his lead to almost 15 seconds at the flag.
Khera finished second to add a GTC win to his Endurance success on Saturday, as did Sam Randon - who powered his Team HARD Porsche to glory in GTB.
GTA went the way of Chris Hart in the makehappenracing Ginetta as he saw off the attentions of Simon Orange's Ginetta. It was a race-long battle for GTH honours as well, with polesitter Chris Murphy taking the chequered flag with just half-a-second over John Whitehouse's JMH Automotive McLaren.
Endurance Race
Lucky Khera & Ross Wylie went one better than Saturday as they took victory in the Pit Stop Race, which was shortened because of the weather conditions.
A great start from the front row allowed Khera to leap ahead of Seale, with John Dhillon also powering past the Lamborghini driver in his Ferrari 488 Challenge. The pair extended their advantage over the rest of the field with Khera opening up a sizeable gap of his own in the Simon Green Motorsport-run Ferrari.
Like the Sprint Race, Team HARD once again took victory in GTB as Sam Randon pulled out a sizeable advantage over the Balfe Motorsport McLaren 570S GT4 early in the running. It was also a HARD win in GTA as the Ginetta raced by Simon Orange and Joshua Jackson won the class ahead of team-mate Callum Jenkins.
Seale took GT3 victory for to continue his and the team's trophy-winning run.
Lucky Khera
“The Sprint Race was decent, the strategy worked - using the faster straight-line speed to get ahead into turn one and then battle a bit. The plan was to get in front and then hope that P2 and P3 battle! It was difficult after the safety car to be honest, I was battling hard with John but he just got ahead."
Chris Hart
"We’re just getting to grips with the car now. It’s only the second time out with it, so I’m not too familiar with what to do to set it up yet. We made a couple of changes from yesterday - we had a bit of front-end push. Got rid of that now, perhaps not quite as good as the Team HARD car in the fast corners but exiting all the others we seemed to have the legs on him so pretty much happy with it."
Chris Murphy
"It’s all been going quite well this weekend, me and Steve have had a good weekend as a team and then in the Sprint Races we’ve done well individually. We got some good laps in yesterday morning and thought we’d be on for some good results this weekend and then in qualifying this morning I managed to get my first class pole position in five years which was a delight."
Sam Randon
"That [Sprint Race] was hardwork! I made it hard for myself in all honesty. I mean I had such a good start in one aspect, I kept up with the GTC cars. I was alongside the Lamborghini going into Maggotts and Becketts which was leaving a space for Marcos so the race was on! I made a couple of mistakes and lost a lot of ground, but fortunately we were able to catch it back up."
