Karting Champion Charlie Benson Joins Ben Taylor At 24-7 Motorsport For GT Cup Campaign

24-7 Motorsport has announced an exciting driver line-up for its full-season return to the GT Cup Championship in 2026, with karting champion Charlie Benson partnering Ben Taylor in its Ginetta G56.

The Norfolk-based squad will continue a motorsport heritage that spans 25 years, competing for honours in what is shaping up to be a hugely competitive Group GTH with its #247 Ginetta G56 entry.

Its charge includes a strong and very fresh driver pairing, headed by former MINI Challenge and Audi TT racer, Ben Taylor, who graduates to GT racing with the team that supported him previously to several podium finishes. He is joined by rapid up-and-coming teenager Charlie Benson, who already holds a Superone Karting Championship title to his name, alongside Vice Champion status in the Superone Intermax series as recently as 2023.

Benson, from Sunderland, will also make series history as the youngest competitor to race in the GT Cup Championship, turning 16 years of age a month prior to the start of the new season.

With a bright future ahead of him and following in the Ginetta roots of F1 champion, Lando Norris, a strong test with the experienced squad at Blyton was the catalyst for Phill Hurn's outfit to sign a deal with the karting ace ahead of their full-season return.

Benson himself is excited for the challenge on his graduation to cars, saying: “I am really proud to say that I have the opportunity to be racing with 24-7 Motorsport this year in the GT Cup Championship, for what is a great introduction to car racing from karting. It is a massive step in an established and competitive series, an exciting one and an opportunity that I want to fully capitalise on and give my best.

"I’m fully dedicated to doing whatever it takes to get to the top step of that podium, and will work tightly with this team to bring us to the top and achieve our goals together.”

24-7 Motorsport last appeared on the grid in the 2025 Donington Park opener, handing multiple BTCC champion Colin Turkington his GT racing debut during the series' inaugural GT Cup 100 race.

Team Principal Hurn adds: “We’re absolutely thrilled to welcome Charlie to the 24-7 family for 2026. Early testing has already shown he’s more than capable of mixing it with the heavy hitters, and we can’t wait to unleash that potential on track. Our return to GT Cup can’t come soon enough, and with the Ginetta G56 beneath us, we’re aiming to bring home some serious silverware.”

The Ginetta team will be in action at the exclusive test day in March at Donington Park, before kicking off a new six-event term at the very same East Midlands circuit for three races - including the first GT Cup 100 outing - on 11/12 April.
