Provisional 2023 GT Cup Championship Calendar

Bute Motorsport are excited to announce the provisional 2023 GT Cup Championship Calendar featuring seven action-packed weekends at some of the UK's best circuits.

Following the success of our 2022 test day, the 2023 season also includes a GT Cup exclusive Media Test Day. The event will be held on the 16th March at Donington Park and open to Championship entries only – a great opportunity for our 2023 competitors to prepare for the season.

The season itself kicks off at Donington Park, as has become somewhat tradition. The championship heads to the Leicestershire circuit to run the National layout in early April. Brands Hatch follows at the end of the month as our teams will return to the iconic GP loop as part of a GT Cup headlined event.

In June, the series heads to Norfolk for the first of two visits to Snetterton, with Oulton Park following in July headlining the Super Car Pageant which was a huge success in 2022 attracting huge crowds. Silverstone GP once again plays host for our fifth weekend.

The season features a summer break before returning in September for the penultimate weekend at Donington Park, this time on the full GP circuit. We draw to a close in October with a return to Norfolk for the grand finale at Snetterton.

For 2023, the track time format will be changing slightly as we add extra time to Free Practice and Qualifying, building on our current, popular format. Entrants will start each day with back-to-back Free Practice and split Qualifying sessions of 15 minutes each instead of the previous 10 minutes, before a 25-minute Sprint and 50-minute Pit Stop race later.

The prize structure remains the same for 2023 and competitors will be competing for a variety of titles, including the Overall, Group and Team Championships as well as the Sprint and Sporting Challenges.

Championship Director Hannah James said: -

“Throughout the season, we have been gathering feedback and talking to teams to create the ultimate package GT Cup can offer for 2023. This will include increased track time, continuing the live race coverage on Facebook and YouTube, and dedicated GT Cup testing ahead of each event. An exclusive test day at the start of the season and rounding off with an annual awards dinner in November 23.

As we continue to finalise the details for the upcoming season, we will be making further announcements to keep you informed.

Entries will open soon but for those wishing to register their interest now and secure their race number, please contact Hannah James (hannah@butemotorsport.com). Please bear in mind initial interest has been very strong already, so act fast if you want to secure your place.
