Saturday Spectacular – GT Cup heads to Cheshire’s Oulton Park
With three events done and dusted, the GT Cup is ready to embark on its fourth of the season. This time, in the picturesque Oulton Park.
It’s still Forsetti Motorsport at the top of the Overall points table as Matthew Higgins and Mikey Porter prove to be a powerful pairing in Group GTH. Two group wins at Snetterton boosted their total to eight so far this season, helping them settle on 277 points. The pair cannot rest on their laurels though as now only two points behind them sit Topcats Racing’s Charlotte Gilbert and Tom Rawlings in their Group GTC Lamborghini Huracan.
Second in Group GTH also sits with Forsetti as the sister car has also been putting in some solid performances. Paddock Motorsport appear poised to snatch third in the group title fight from Team Parker Racing as Adam Hatfield again joins Michael Orant. The driver change seems to be fruitful for the team as they claimed a decent points haul from Snetterton.
Another good performance from Topcats Racing retain their lead in the Group GTC points table. The #2 Lamborghini of Charlotte Gilbert and Tom Rawlings only missed out on one win throughout the weekend – it did however go to the sister car in the hands of Warren Gilbert and newcome Fraser Fenwick in the #3. Despite only jumping into the Huracan on Friday at Snetterton, Fenwick has settled in well and will be back aboard the #3 this weekend.
Miles Rudman makes a return following a short break, bringing another Team Parker Racing Porsche to the GTC grid. Parker’s second car Keith Bush and Woodrow Motorsports’ Chris Murphy round out the group. Bush managed to nab a third-place finish in Sunday’s Pit Stop race, ruling out a perfect sweep of podium positions for Murphy.
In Group GTO, Abba Racing have retained both the top spot in the group points standings and third in the Overall standings. Richard Neary and Ian Loggie once again showed that they are a formidable pairing, taking all four group and overall wins at Snetterton. Paul Bailey really seems to be settling well into the Brabham as he showed some impressive performances during the Snetterton weekend. Technical niggles stopped the car from really showing its stuff, but it is back on the grid this weekend with Bailey and David Brabham behind the wheel.
Returning to the grid this weekend is the National Motorsport Academy Lotus Evora in the hands of Jay Shepherd, and following a fantastic Saturday performance at Snett, Richard Chamberlain’s Porsche 935 is back on the road.
