First blood to WPI Motorsport as Igoe claims pole position
A fine start to the weekend for WPI Motorsport as Michael Igoe nabs the first pole position at Snetterton. Returning to the GT Cup after a short break, Igoe squeezed a 1:51.608 out of his Lamborghini Huracan, putting him well over a second clear of Daniel de Zille in second place.
Third on the grid went the way of Grahame Tilley, with a 1:53.040. Tilley showed great pace early in the session, and remains the second quickest GTO car on the grid. Dan de Zille’s main GTC rival James Webb will line up fifth on the grid, setting the Lamborghini at somewhat of a disadvantage in the two-horse GTC race. Fox Motorsport’s Mark Murfitt claimed the top time in group GTH. A 1:58.642 sees the Mercedes AMG GT4 start eighth overall, ahead of the returning David Holloway and Team Hard’s #21 Ginetta.
Jensen Lunn ran brilliantly in the Top Cats Racing Marcos Mantis to top the times in group GTB. Just behind Lunn sits Saxon Motorsports’ Jamie Morrow in the #20 BMW 150 GTR, while 24/7 Motorsport will start third in the group with Jonathan Wright behind the wheel.
Newcomers PT Sports Car finished quickest in group GTA. The white Ginetta put in a time of 1:59.683, almost a second clear of Niall Quinn in the #79 Team Hard Ginetta. Stanbridge Motorsport will start third in the group, rounding off the grid.
